I like the way this author explains why the emperor has BECOME such a ruthless and dark person. In the original story the character just seems to have been cold-blooded from birth. But this fan fic tells us that because of his fathers rejection of him as a son and then bestowing that love on someone else made him that way. And then when his sister, his truest friend and confidants' heart becomes this mans own as well. He feels more emptier and alone in the world resulting in his behaviour, state of mind and ultimately; his actions in the original story. The author addresses the point that the emperor could have been different had his father given his love to him and not someone he believed was more worthy of it. Definitely a good piece of fan fic in my opinion.
